Whilst we continue to strengthen that foundation and extend its reach, we’re in an exciting period of acceleration and transformation that will see us enable more connectivity and compute to more communities and industries across the UK.
The Role: To lead and evolve the HSQE Supplier Governance and monitoring framework across Cornerstone — ensuring a comprehensive, risk-based approach that drives safe, compliant and high-quality delivery across our estate. This is a highly visible role with significant cross-functional impact. You’ll set the direction for outsourced governance partners, shape supplier performance strategy and use insight and trend analysis to drive continuous improvement. Blending strategic oversight with operational delivery, you’ll play a key role in strengthening supplier standards, managing risk and enabling consistent, high-quality execution across all projects and activities.
Why This Role Matters: This is a critical role at a time when Cornerstone is continuing to scale and evolve its operations. As supplier activity grows in volume and complexity, ensuring strong governance, robust compliance and a proactive safety culture is essential to delivering safely, efficiently and responsibly. This role will shape how Cornerstone monitors, manages and improves supplier performance — moving beyond compliance to a more insight-led, preventative and continuously improving approach. It’s an opportunity to strengthen governance frameworks, influence supplier behaviours and play a key role in protecting both our people and our business as we deliver against our ambitions.
What You’ll Do:
- Own and evolve the HSQE supplier governance framework, ensuring a comprehensive, risk-based approach across all supplier activities.
- Lead and manage outsourced governance service partners, setting clear objectives, performance measures and expectations.
- Interpret governance data and trends to shape supplier H&S performance strategy and drive targeted improvement actions.
- Lead investigations into significant issues, ensuring robust root cause analysis and effective corrective action plans.
- Partner with operational and project delivery teams to plan and prioritise HSQE audits, inspections and reviews.
- Proactively engage suppliers through site visits, forums and communications, driving awareness, collaboration and continuous improvement.
- Monitor and manage supplier performance through scorecards, reviews and governance reporting, identifying risks and opportunities.
- Define and manage escalation routes for significant risks and issues, ensuring effective resolution and risk mitigation.
- Oversee governance reporting, documentation and compliance activities, ensuring accuracy, consistency and timeliness.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives, strengthening supplier capability, right-first-time delivery and overall governance effectiveness.
What You’ll Bring: You’ll bring strong experience in HSQE, supplier governance and performance management within telecoms, construction or a similarly complex delivery environment. You’ll be confident translating governance data and operational insight into clear actions that improve supplier performance, reduce risk and strengthen compliance. You’ll be comfortable working across multiple stakeholders — from on-site teams to senior leadership — influencing outcomes and driving accountability. With a proactive and solutions-focused mindset, you’ll be equally at ease setting strategic direction and getting into the detail to ensure things are delivered effectively.
You’ll also bring:
- Experience managing supplier performance, audits and governance frameworks.
- Strong analytical skills, with the ability to interpret data and identify trends.
- Proven experience supporting investigations, root cause analysis and corrective actions.
- Strong stakeholder management and influencing skills across operational and senior teams.
- Excellent planning, organisation and problem-solving capability in fast-paced environments.
- Commercial awareness, including budget oversight and supplier cost management.
Above all, you’ll be motivated by the opportunity to strengthen safety, quality and governance standards — helping to build a more proactive, high-performing and resilient supplier ecosystem.
