An opportunity has arisen for a Design Engineer – MOBs within our Network Planning and Design department (Risk Management), reporting to the Design Manager. You'll support safety-critical design work that directly impacts thousands of homes. The base location is Edinburgh, with travel required across SGN's Southern and Scotland networks for site inspections and stakeholder meetings.
We deliver safety, warmth, and comfort to homes and businesses. Every role, whether in the office or on the front line, plays a key part in this mission. Here's how you will contribute:
- Producing standard designs for MOBs
- Producing complex designs for MOBs installations
- Preparation of scaled drawings including 3D BIM Level 2 and creating a library of designs
- Requirement to travel to sites
- Ensure designs are compliant with the relevant Legislation and technical standards
- Produce any design variations on projects
- Work with operational teams on application of designs
- Work with Local Authorities and other 3rd parties on planning and approval of designs
- Produce installation completion packs
- Supporting the wider Network Management team with other tasks when required
What you will need:
- Understanding of the gas industry is desirable
- Ability to work in a team or autonomously when required
- Ideally hold a HNC Mechanical/Engineering or higher
- Must be highly competent and experienced in the use of CAD/ Revit, with a good knowledge of software (2D essential, 3D preferable)
- Good communication skills both verbally and in writing
- Highly motivated with a flexible approach
- Ability to respond and adapt quickly to change; and meet tight deadlines
- The role will require some travel around the UK, therefore you must have a valid driving licence
