Overview
The Data Migration Lead is responsible for planning, executing, and overseeing all data migration activities across the Transformation Programme. This role ensures data is accurately, securely, and efficiently migrated between systems, meeting business, technical, and regulatory requirements. The Data Migration Lead acts as the bridge between technical teams, business stakeholders, and vendors to ensure a seamless transition with minimal disruption. The role will also oversee and facilitate the provision of SGN production data to the programme (test and migration teams).
What you will do
- Strategy & Planning – Develop and own the end‑to‑end data migration strategy, including scope, timelines, approach, and success criteria.
- Strategy & Planning – Conduct data assessments to identify source systems, data quality issues, and transformation needs.
- Strategy & Planning – Define migration principles, standards, and best practices.
- Strategy & Planning – Plan and manage migration phases (extract, cleanse, transform, load, validate).
- Data Mapping & Transformation – Lead detailed data mapping between legacy and target systems.
- Data Mapping & Transformation – Define transformation and validation rules in collaboration with business SMEs and technical teams.
- Data Mapping & Transformation – Ensure data definitions, business logic, and metadata are documented and maintained.
- Execution & Quality Assurance – Oversee or perform data extraction, cleansing, transformation, and loading processes.

What you will need
Essential
- Proven experience leading large‑scale data migration programmes, Oracle Fusion essential.
- Strong knowledge of ETL processes, tools, and data structures.
- Expertise in data quality, cleansing, and validation methodologies.
- Ability to interpret complex data sets and resolve data issues efficiently.
- Experience working with relational databases, SQL, and integration technologies.
- Excellent communication, documentation, and stakeholder engagement skills.
- Strong project planning skills, including risk and dependency management.
Desirable
- Experience with cloud platforms (Azure, AWS, GCP).
- Knowledge of master data management (MDM) principles.
- Experience working in regulated industries.
- Familiarity with Agile and Waterfall delivery methodologies.
- Understanding of information governance, GDPR, and data protection.
