About the Role
Reporting to the Senior Governance, Risk, and Compliance Counsel, this role will lead to ensuring a strong culture of compliance within Cornerstone and support the continued evolution of our compliance function. This role will ensure that Cornerstone operates in full compliance with all applicable laws, regulations, and internal policies. You will be responsible for developing, implementing, and maintaining effective compliance programs that safeguard the business from legal and regulatory risks, while promoting a culture of ethical conduct and operational integrity.
Key Responsibilities
- Compliance Framework
- Build and evolve a central compliance toolkit, including frameworks, templates, policies, and guidance materials for use across the business.
- Drive continuous improvement in compliance processes and systems.
- Regularly review and update frameworks, templates, policies, and guidance materials to reflect regulatory change.
- Regulation Compliance
- Monitor and interpret regulations (inc. telecom regulations) and ensure company-wide compliance (e.g. Ofcom, GDPR, Competition, etc.).
- Investigate compliance breaches or complaints and recommend disciplinary or corrective actions as needed.
- Support and contribute actively to regulatory compliance, health and safety, environmental, business continuity and information security arrangements that meet our obligations to our customers.
- Carrying out Beacon exit interviews where required to confirm garden leave requirement and provide a recommendation to the Senior GRC Counsel.
- Lead on the annual Beacon Audit process with external auditors and Shareholder Compliance Teams.
- Lead on ensuring compliance against the competition law (information sharing) under Cornerstone\βs joint venture protocols.
- Stakeholder Engagement
- Liaise with regulatory authorities and represent Cornerstone in compliance related matters.
- Collaborate with legal, IT, People, operational teams, and quality assurance teams (e.g. HSQE) to ensure alignment with compliance standards and integration into all business functions.
- Work closely with stakeholders to identify compliance gaps, risks, run working groups, and embed sustainable solutions into BAU activity.
- Risk Management
- Conduct compliance risk assessments.
- Develop implementation corrective action plans for areas identified as a compliance vulnerability.
- Work closely with the Risk & Compliance Manager to ensure alignment with risk framework and reporting.
- Auditing & Monitoring
- Plan and conduct internal audits to assess compliance effectiveness.
- Monitor operational processes to ensure ongoing compliance.
- Communication & Education
- Provide training and guidance to Cornerstone colleagues on procedures and regulatory updates.
- Reporting
- Prepare reports for senior management and regulatory bodies.
Knowledge, Skills and Experience
- The ideal candidate will have experience in Compliance Management , with the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
- Certified in a recognised Project methodology (or working towards certification β preferably Prince 2).
- Ability to build relationships and maintain rapport with internal and external stakeholders.
- A collaborative team player with good organisational skills and a proactive approach.
