We are seeking a Semi‑Skilled Steel Fitter to join our team on a permanent basis. This role is well suited to someone with site experience who is comfortable assisting with steel staircase installations and is willing to travel nationally as part of the role.
Location: Essex based, with travel across the UK
Salary: £31,000 per year plus overtime on top
Start Date: February
Hours: 08:00-16:30
Overtime: Paid in addition to basic hours
Overtime Rate: 1.6x basic rate
Weekends: Infrequent
Key Responsibilities:
- Assisting lead fitters with the installation of steel staircases
- Supporting site set‑up, positioning, and fixing of steel components
- Handling materials, tools, and equipment safely on site
- Working as a fitter's mate to ensure installations are completed efficiently
- Following site drawings and instructions from supervisors
- Maintaining safe working practices and complying with site regulations
- Travelling to sites across the UK as required
Requirements:
- CSCS card
- Previous experience working on construction or steel installation sites
- Willingness to travel and stay away when required
- Reliable, safety‑conscious, and able to work as part of a site team
- Physically capable of assisting with installation works
