We are looking for a Senior Estimator for a principal contractor based in Exeter. The role is primarily remote, but must be able to get into the office when required.
Salary: £75,000
Hours: 8:30-5:00 (flexible)
Location: Remote with occasional travel to Exeter
Responsibilities:
- Ensure project costs comply with scope, client requirements, and legislation.
- Work with the preconstruction team to secure and convert tenders.
- Produce accurate, robust cost plans through all design stages to target price.
- Advise the design team and client on affordability.
- Identify risks, opportunities, and value-adding solutions.
- Cost and track design changes through RIBA stages.
- Complete or manage detailed take-offs (SMM7/NRM2/building quantities).
- Provide full cost-substantiation packs at handover, including comparisons, BOQs, tender books, and quotations.
- Coordinate with design leads to incorporate design fees into tender summaries.
- Assess the cost and impact of design changes and alternative solutions.
Requirements:
- Proven experience with framework and two-stage estimating.
- Knowledge of multiple construction methods.
- Ability to manage costs, timelines, and quality to targets.
- Strong skills in interpreting drawings and technical specifications.
- High level of mathematical competence.
