At The King’s School, we are looking for a Principal who will lead with conviction, humility and vision, building on a strong foundation while shaping the next chapter of our school’s life and mission. This is a rare and exciting opportunity to lead a successful and growing Christian, independent all-through school with a bright future.
The King’s School (TKS) is an independent Christian school managed within the Oxfordshire Community Churches Trust (OCC), catering to children of all abilities from Early Years to GCSEs. Since opening in 1984, TKS has built a strong track record of academic achievement while intentionally nurturing pupils’ godly character and helping them understand a biblical worldview across the curriculum. TKS currently has 210 children on roll from nursery through to Year 11. Maximum Department of Education NOR is currently 250.
Governors are seeking a new Principal with the vision and ability to lead, manage and inspire our Christ-centred school community as a centre of pastoral and academic excellence for all. We are seeking a committed Christian leader who combines strategic vision with relational warmth, sound judgement and a deep commitment to educational excellence. The successful candidate will be able to lead confidently, communicate well, develop others and sustain a culture in which pupils, staff and families feel known, supported and encouraged.
You will be joining a vibrant and welcoming school - an exciting place to work, with happy, friendly children from a culturally diverse range of backgrounds who are eager to learn; and well-motivated, compassionate staff who work hard to deliver a first-class education. The school is ably supported by dedicated Governors who are committed to bringing positivity and support as the school embarks on a new chapter on its journey.
The post is suitable for existing Heads, or those currently in senior leadership roles in schools who are looking for their first step into Headship – from a background in either the independent or state sectors. If you believe you can offer the God-given leadership which inspires and motivates others towards excellence, then we would love to hear from you.
Closing date: 9am, Wednesday 14 October 2026
Interviews: Week beginning Monday 2 November 2026.
We warmly encourage you to visit TKS to see the children and staff at work. We are confident that you will sense the palpable warmth, welcome and friendliness of the whole school community, for it is this that makes The King’s School such an exciting place to lead.
