As Junior Sous Chef, you will play a key role in supporting the Head Chef and wider kitchen team to deliver beautifully prepared, high-quality food for The Greenhouses’ private dining and events.

This is a hands-on role suited to a confident and ambitious chef who enjoys taking ownership, supporting service, maintaining excellent standards, and helping to guide junior members of the team.

You will deputise for the Head Chef when required, while continuing to develop your leadership, creativity, and technical skills in a fast-paced, premium hospitality environment.

What you’ll be doing

  • Supporting the Head Chef with the day-to-day running of the kitchen, helping to keep service smooth, organised, and consistent.
  • Preparing, cooking, and presenting dishes to a high standard across private dining, events, breakfasts, afternoon teas, and bespoke menus.
  • Taking responsibility for assigned sections and ensuring food quality, timing, and presentation meet company standards.
  • Leading by example during service, supporting junior chefs and kitchen assistants with clear guidance and a positive, hands-on approach.
  • Deputising for the Head Chef when required, including helping to coordinate preparation, service, and close-down duties.
  • Maintaining excellent standards of cleanliness, food safety, hygiene, and health and safety at all times.
  • Ensuring all food is stored, wrapped, labelled, dated, and rotated correctly to minimise waste and maintain quality.
  • Supporting stock control, ordering, portion control, and waste management in line with business needs.
  • Helping to develop new menu ideas and seasonal dishes that reflect The Greenhouses’ premium, creative, and event-led offering.
  • Working flexibly across both Greenhouses locations, depending on events, service requirements, and business priorities.
  • Building strong working relationships with the wider events, front-of-house, and kitchen teams to deliver a seamless guest experience.
  • Completing duties in line with company policies and procedures, and carrying out any other reasonable responsibilities as requested.
