Cornerstone Housing Partners currently manages and maintains 160 buildings and 4 mobile home parks in Bennington and Rutland County. The Maintenance Technician will handle general maintenance in occupied apartments at the resident’s request and vacant apartments to return them to move-in condition for future residents. This position requires maintaining maintenance and repair records of activities using computerized work order and time management systems. Availability for after-hour emergency response on a rotating schedule for several days/nights at a time including weekends and holidays is required. The technician must use their own tools, have a valid driver’s license, and use a personal vehicle with mileage reimbursement. The vehicle must have current inspection and up-to-date vehicle insurance.

Principal Duties:

  • Perform routine maintenance and repairs at Cornerstone Housing Partners-managed buildings and sites, including carpentry, minor plumbing, electrical, drywall repair, painting, hardware, and cleaning.
  • Perform water system monitoring/maintenance activities such as sample collections, water testing, maintenance of chemical injection systems, and water softening equipment.
  • Troubleshoot and problem solve for repairs and system malfunctions.
  • Assist Regional Property Manager with site-related visits such as inspections.
  • Use computerized work order system to document and track progress and work completed.
  • Work within budget to cover repair and maintenance expenses.
  • Carry pager and/or cell-phone to facilitate communication during the day and address emergencies after hours (on a rotating schedule).
  • Complete other responsibilities as appropriate and assigned by the Regional Property Manager.

Terms of Employment:

This Property Maintenance Specialist position is full-time and hourly, including health insurance, vacation, sick, personal, and holidays. The position has a non-exempt status and requires routine after-hours availability. An individual in this position is hired and supervised by the Regional Property Manager.

  • Mechanical Skills: Experience with construction is essential; property maintenance experience is desirable. Good problem solving/diagnostic skills and experience are necessary.
  • Technical Skills: Must have basic computer skills to monitor and document field work and recording of time. Must be comfortable with office equipment (including copier, fax, computer, etc.).

Prior Education / Experience:

High school diploma or equivalent necessary. On-the-job experience with construction and/or property maintenance is required. Must have own truck or other vehicle suitable for construction activity, a valid driver’s license, and provide a certificate of auto insurance. Must own and use own tools.
