About The Role
Cornerstone Healthcare is seeking an experienced, passionate, and committed Healthcare Assistant to join our award‑winning team at The Burren. The Burren is a newly built, purpose‑designed service in South Bristol, offering exceptional care and support to residents with complex neurological conditions, mental health needs, dementia, and recovery‑based requirements. Our environment is safe, modern, and comfortable, and our care approach is tailored to each individual, focusing on the whole person, their strengths, and their unique challenges, rather than their diagnosis alone. Before you Apply
The Burren is hosting a Recruitment Open Day on 6th May 2026 for this position. To be considered, applicants must apply for this role, be available to attend on this date, and successfully complete a telephone screening interview prior to the event.
What You’ll Bring
- A minimum of 1 year’s experience working in a UK nursing home or hospital
- Experience supporting individuals with dementia, mental health needs, complex care requirements, or those needing short‑term recovery and enablement
- Confidence supporting adults who may present with physical or verbal aggression
- The ability to build and maintain positive relationships with colleagues, residents, families, and visitors
- A caring, respectful, open, curious, and kind approach
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
Your Working Pattern
Total weekly hours: 38.5 (12‑hour shifts)
3 shifts one week, 4 shifts the following week
Shift times: 07:45 – 19:45 (Day shifts), 19:45 – 07:45 (Night shifts)
Day and night shifts are available. Whilst we will consider your preference, rotation and weekend work will be required. Unpaid breaks.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Adapting to varying workloads and demonstrating resilience and flexibility
- Monitoring resident progress and reporting any changes in condition or care needs
- Supporting all aspects of daily living, including personal care, mealtime assistance, meaningful engagement, and social activities
- Encouraging and enabling residents to maintain independence wherever possible
- Upholding residents’ rights to choice, dignity, privacy, and respect at all times
- Communicating effectively with colleagues and contributing to a positive team environment
- Assisting with the operational running of the service to ensure a clean, safe, and comfortable environment
