Cornerstone Healthcare is looking for experienced, passionate, and confident Care Assistants to join our award-winning team at The Burren. The Burren is a brand-new purpose-built service location in South Bristol, providing high-quality care and supporting residents with varying complex neurological, mental health, and dementia care needs in a comfortable and safe living environment. Our approach focuses on individualised care, considering the whole person's unique strengths and challenges, rather than just the diagnosis.

Please note: Due to the specific needs of our male residents who require same-sex personal care, this position is open to male applicants only under the Equality Act 2010, Schedule 9, Part 1 (Occupational Requirement).

What do you need?

  • At least 1 year’s experience working in a nursing home supporting residents with dementia, mental health, elderly or complex care needs within the UK.
  • Experience working with adults that present with complex needs including challenging behaviours and mental health needs.
  • Ability to develop and maintain good working relationships with colleagues, residents, and their families.
  • A caring and empathetic approach to residents and their visitors.
  • Effective communication skills (both written and verbal).

What hours will you work?

Total hours per week: 38.5 (12 hour shifts). Day shifts with the occasional night shift. Weekend work required.

What will you be doing?

  • Observe resident progress against planned goals and report changes in the residents’ condition or care needs.
  • Supporting all aspects of daily living including personal care, mealtimes, and social activities.
  • Helping residents to remain as independent as possible.
  • Respecting residents' right of choice, privacy, and dignity at all times.
  • Communicate effectively with other staff and members of the team.
