Do you enjoy supervising teams to deliver amazing services? Do you have a love for reading and a passion for working in thriving communities? Then being a Senior Library and Archive Assistant in Sheffield Libraries might be the perfect choice for you.

You will supervise a small team, support our wide-ranging customers, organise events and activities, and engage with your local area to ensure that your library is at the heart of the community.

You will have a passion for reading, outstanding customer service skills, and strong IT skills. Working closely with Library and Archive Assistants, other Senior Library and Archive Assistants, and Library and Archive Officers, you will be responsible for successful day-to-day operations and activities to deliver exceptional library services to Sheffield's communities.

Our roles are based in Clusters, and you will work across all Libraries in Sheffield. We have roles available for:

  • Permanent: 34 hours in Various Libraries

All roles include working Saturdays on a regular basis, and our 34-hour roles work every Saturday. Saturday working attracts an enhanced rate of pay. All our Hub Libraries are closed on Thursdays and Sundays.

Full-time employees work 37 hours for 52 weeks of the year, and we offer a generous holiday entitlement. We are open to discussions about a wide range of flexible working opportunities that benefit you and the Council, including reduced hour contracts, working part-time, or as a job share.

If you are appointed to this role, your starting salary will be at the bottom of the grade. If you provide payslip evidence that your basic pay is greater than the bottom of the grade, we will consider starting you at the point of minimum advantage within the grade.
