About the Company

Our client is a fast-growing global leader in the retail and e-commerce sector, currently expanding its organizational footprint across Europe. To support this rapid growth, the company is strengthening its regional Total Rewards infrastructure and seeking an experienced compensation leader to design, optimize, and harmonize compensation structures across multiple European markets.

Position Overview

The Regional Compensation Lead, Europe will be responsible for designing, implementing, and managing competitive, scalable, and market-aligned compensation programs for all European countries. This is a high-impact role requiring a strong blend of consulting experience from a reputable management consulting or compensation advisory firm combined with hands-on corporate compensation experience within large, fast-paced organizations. The ideal candidate is highly analytical, skilled in compensation structure design, experienced in operating across diverse European markets, and comfortable working with senior stakeholders in a dynamic environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Compensation Strategy & Program Design
  • Design, develop, and maintain compensation structures, salary ranges, and job architecture across Europe.
  • Lead regional market benchmarking and compensation analysis to ensure competitiveness and consistency.
  • Evaluate, redesign, and implement compensation programs supporting business growth and talent needs.
  • Partner with the global compensation team to align regional practices with global philosophy and frameworks.
  • Compensation Governance & Compliance
    • Ensure compensation structures comply with European labor regulations, pay transparency requirements, and local market practices.
    • Establish and maintain compensation governance standards, policies, and review processes.
    • Partner with Legal and HR teams to ensure compliance with regional pay equity initiatives.
  • Business Partnering & Advisory
    • Serve as the primary compensation advisor for HRBPs, Talent Acquisition, and regional business leaders.
    • Provide guidance on job leveling, salary placements, and compensation offers for key hires.
    • Conduct training for HR teams and leaders on compensation philosophy, tools, and processes.
  • Annual Cycles & Rewards Operations
    • Lead annual compensation cycles in the European region, including merit increases, bonus cycles, benchmarking, and budgeting.
    • Collaborate with Finance and HR teams to support compensation-related planning and forecasting.
    • Improve compensation tools, data accuracy, and process efficiency.
  • Project Leadership
    • Support organizational expansion, integrations, and restructuring across European markets.
    • Lead regional compensation-related projects such as pay transparency readiness, job architecture rollout, or incentive redesign.
    • Drive continuous improvement in compensation analytics, reporting, and decision support.

    Requirements

    • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business, Finance, or related field; Master’s preferred.
    • Experience at a management consulting firm (required) with compensation, rewards, or organizational design focus.
    • Corporate compensation experience (preferred), ideally within retail, e-commerce, or large multinational environments.
    • 8–12 years of progressive experience in compensation or total rewards roles.
    • Strong expertise in compensation structure design, job leveling, salary range development, and benchmarking.
    • Familiarity with European market dynamics, pay transparency laws, and regulatory requirements.
    • Excellent analytical skills with the ability to translate data into strategic insights.
    • Strong stakeholder management and communication skills, including experience advising senior leaders.
    • Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-growth environment with evolving priorities.
    • Proficiency in Excel; experience with Workday or similar HRIS systems is a plus.

    Preferred Qualifications

    • Experience in retail, e-commerce, technology, or other high-volume, high-growth industries.
    • Experience managing multi-country compensation programs.
    • Certifications in compensation (e.g., GRP) or total rewards.
