CCS is an established counselling service and training provider currently expanding its training provision with the development of the CPCAB Level 4 Diploma in Therapeutic Counselling. We are seeking an experienced and passionate counselling professional to join CCS as the Lead Tutor for our CPCAB Level 4 Diploma in Therapeutic Counselling. As a developing Level 4 training centre, we are looking for a tutor who can bring strong clinical, academic, and professional leadership to the programme while helping support the continued growth and quality assurance of counselling training within CCS. In this part-time, on-site role based in the London Area, United Kingdom, the successful candidate will be responsible for delivering and managing the Level 4 Diploma course, including:

  • lesson planning,
  • teaching delivery,
  • facilitating skills practice and process work,
  • assessing student work,
  • mentoring trainee counsellors, and
  • supporting students’ academic, personal, and professional development.

The role will also involve working collaboratively with the CCS team to maintain CPCAB standards, contribute to curriculum development, and help foster a safe, reflective, and growth-oriented learning environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead delivery of the CPCAB Level 4 Diploma programme
  • Prepare and deliver teaching sessions in line with CPCAB requirements
  • Facilitate experiential learning, skills practice, and process groups
  • Support students with academic and professional development
  • Assess and mark student work in accordance with CPCAB standards
  • Provide constructive feedback and tutorial support
  • Participate in internal verification and standardisation processes
  • Liaise with internal quality assurance and CPCAB requirements
  • Contribute to handbook, policy, and curriculum development
  • Support placement readiness and professional conduct expectations
  • Foster a reflective, trauma-informed, and ethically grounded learning culture
  • Support collaborative working within the training team

Essential Requirements

  • A recognised counselling qualification at Level 4 or above
  • A relevant teaching or training qualification
  • Experience teaching counselling qualifications, ideally CPCAB
  • Professional counselling practice experience
  • Strong understanding of safeguarding, ethics, supervision, and placement processes
  • Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills
  • Ability to support diverse learning styles and student needs
  • Strong mentoring and student support capabilities
  • Experience working with complex mental health presentations and trauma-informed practice
  • Competency in managing group dynamics and fostering collaborative learning
  • Ability to manage administrative responsibilities and adhere to educational policies and procedures

Desirable

  • CPCAB Level 4 teaching experience
  • Internal Quality Assurance (IQA) experience
  • Experience supporting counselling placements
  • Knowledge of BACP and/or NCPS professional standards
  • Experience facilitating reflective groups or process work
  • Experience working within counselling education or mental health training environments
