Are you an experienced support worker who is looking for a role where they can really shine in 2026? Look no further as we have a great opportunity for you! We’re on the lookout for caring, reliable and motivated colleagues to join us in Dumbarton as Complex Care Practitioners on a permanent full-time or part-time basis. We also have relief contracts too if you are looking for something a bit more flexible.

Here at Cornerstone, the support that we provide is centred around assisting individuals to identify and work towards their goals. We work with them to develop personal plans that reflect their choices, individual support needs and capabilities. You will become part of a fun and welcoming team supporting individuals to manage their own tenancy, increase and maintain their independence as well as encouraging them with personal care and their social, health and wellbeing needs. The individuals we support all have different hobbies and interests, so you will need to bring creativity and enthusiasm to the role. You will support them with accessing leisure activities, engage in meaningful activities and take part in hobbies and interests that are important to them, both within their home and out in their local communities. Being a Complex Care Practitioner is more than just a job; there’s no better feeling going home after every shift knowing that you’ve made a positive difference in someone’s life.

A bit about the individuals you will support: One of the gentlemen we support enjoys nothing more than going for a pint and placing a bet or two on the football. Being loyal to his team, he loves going to as many as he can. He enjoys being kept busy out and about chatting to people as he goes. As well as being active, he looks forward to holidays every now and again. One of the ladies we support has autism and a learning disability. She loves listening to music and getting creative with arts and crafts. She also loves spending time out in the community every day whether it’s going out for a drive in her car, enjoying a nice coffee out or a bit of pampering. She likes to keep busy and one of her favourite things to do is to get her hair and nails done.

Due to the complex care needs within our service, we’re looking for people who bring experience of providing care and support within the Health & Social Care sector who have the confidence to lone work and manage behaviours that can challenge. We will also need you to bring a commitment to studying for and achieving an SVQ (SCQF level 7) and completing training and further qualifications which are identified as essential for our service. We will fund and support you with any training and qualifications you’ll need and we will even reimburse your yearly SSSC registration fees!

To be a great Complex Care Practitioner, you’ll need:

  • Previous experience of providing care and support to adults with learning disabilities and/or of working in a forensic service
  • An understanding of professional boundaries, accountabilities and responsibilities
  • A passion for delivering excellent person-led care and support
  • Excellent communication skills (verbal, listening and written)
  • Numeracy skills to ensure accurate records are kept
  • The ability and confidence to deal with behaviours that can challenge
  • A caring and professional attitude and approach
  • A positive approach to learning
  • Confidence in the use of computers

It would be great if you also have:

  • A full, clean driving license as some of the people we support have their own mobility cars and enjoy going out for drives (but this isn’t a deal breaker for the right candidates).

Typically, shift patterns will fall between the hours of 0800-2200 hours, but can vary on occasion if the individuals we support have events planned that they’d like to attend. Weekends, public holidays and waking nights will also form part of your rota on a rotational basis. However, we appreciate the importance of a work-life balance and offer flexibility where we can.

Along with hosting annual Star Awards to celebrate and recognise the impact and dedication of our colleagues and the achievements of the people we support, there are some other great perks that you’ll receive when you join our team:

  • You’ll have a meaningful job doing things that you enjoy - it often doesn’t feel like work
  • Your job actually changes and improves lives - you’ll make a difference in your local community
  • We have a culture of empowering our colleagues and teamwork
  • No uniform - we wear our own casual clothes
  • We fund up to £500 towards driving lessons
  • We reimburse your yearly SSSC registration fees
  • Access to funded qualifications through our SQA approved, award-winning Training Academy
  • Ongoing continued professional development and career progression opportunities
  • Recommend a colleague bonus scheme
  • Long service awards
  • Access to a 24/7 independent employee assistance helpline
  • 26 days annual leave (rising by 5 days after 5 years) plus 4 paid bank holidays
  • Family friendly leave options, including family, parental, bereavement and special leave
  • Access to lots of discounts, including the cinema, gym memberships, holidays and shopping to name a few

Successful candidates will be required to join the Protection of Vulnerable Groups Scheme and be committed to working towards an SVQ in Social Services and Healthcare with the support from our Training Academy. Please note - If you have spent more than 12 months outwith the UK (excluding France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Ireland, Italy, Lithuania, Netherlands, Poland, Portugal, Romania or Spain) within the last 10 years while over the age of 18, you will be asked to provide a criminal record certificate from the relevant government/police authority as part of our pre-employment checks. If you’re successful in joining our team, we will need you to register with the SSSC within 3 months of starting your employment with us. We are looking to fill these vacancies as soon as possible so reserve the right to close our advert early if we find suitable candidates before the closing date. Please apply early to avoid disappointment. Due to our teams continuing to provide support over the festive period, successful candidates may be contacted in the New Year. Cornerstone welcomes applications from all sections of the community and actively seeks to increase the diversity of our workforce.
