Payroll Specialist in Glasgow

Help us make a difference and deliver an accurate, trusted payroll service that supports colleagues across our organisation! At Cornerstone, everything we do is focused on enabling the people we support to live the life they choose. We're looking for two new experienced Payroll Specialists to join our finance team and help deliver an accurate, compliant and person-centred payroll service for approximately 1,800 colleagues.

Reporting to our Payroll Lead, you'll take responsibility for the end-to-end monthly payroll process for allocated services and act as a trusted payroll contact for operational managers and stakeholders. These roles can be based in our Glasgow, Dundee or Aberdeen office, or part of our hybrid working model where a minimum of 2 days per week would be spent in one of these office locations.

What you'll do:

• Deliver end-to-end monthly payroll for allocated services, ensuring accurate and timely payments and deductions.
• Act as a main payroll contact for managers and stakeholders.
• Check payroll input is complete, accurate, authorised and submitted on time.
• Resolve payroll queries clearly and elevate more complex issues when required.
• Support statutory returns, payslips, P45s, P60s, pensions, reconciliations and month-end activity.
• Use payroll audit findings to strengthen controls, improve data quality and reduce recurring issues.

What you'll bring:

• Experience delivering a comprehensive, compliant payroll and pension service.
• Up-to-date knowledge of PAYE, RTI and NIC, with experience of retrospective pay calculations.
• Strong numerical skills and meticulous attention to detail.
• Advanced Excel skills and confidence using Microsoft Office and learning new systems.
• Excellent organization, customer service, communication and relationship-building skills.
• A degree, CIPP/IPPM equivalent qualification or extensive experience in a comparable role.
• Excellent knowledge of PAYE, RTI and NIC and current payroll legislation.

Desirable experience:

• Working in a large and complex organisation.
• Pensions and auto-enrolment.
• Experience of using Access Select Pay.

The successful candidates will be subject to a Level 2 Disclosure check through Disclosure Scotland. There will be occasional travel across our branches (travel expenses would be reimbursed as set out in Cornerstone's expense policy with travel reimbursed by HMRC legislation).
