Do you thrive both working independently and as part of a dedicated, supportive team? If so, this could be the perfect opportunity for you. Corserv Care is seeking an enthusiastic, positive, and proactive Support Worker to join our Short Breaks Service, The Bungalow in Penzance. This vital service provides high‑quality short breaks and respite care for adults with learning disabilities, physical disabilities, and autism.
As a Support Worker, you'll play a key role in delivering person‑centred care that promotes independence, wellbeing, and meaningful experiences for the individuals who stay with us. You’ll work within a collaborative and professional team who are committed to delivering exceptional support and ensuring each person achieves the best outcomes possible. This role is ideal for someone looking to grow their career in care within a supportive organisation that values your development and offers clear career pathways, a sense of purpose, and a healthy work‑life balance. If you’re seeking a rewarding opportunity where you can truly make a difference — we’d love to hear from you.
Role Purpose:
The Support Worker plays a vital role in delivering high‑quality care within our Short Breaks and Respite Service. You will help create a safe, nurturing, and homely environment where individuals feel comfortable, welcomed, and valued during their stay. We aim to make The Bungalow feel like a "home from home," and you will contribute to that warm atmosphere through positive interactions, thoughtful support, and a calm, reassuring presence. You will also support service users to engage in meaningful and enjoyable activities — whether that’s creative arts and crafts, sensory sessions, community outings, or simply sharing a good story together. Your focus will be on helping each person achieve positive, fulfilling outcomes during their stay. Working alongside the Manager and Senior Support Worker, you will contribute to maintaining a consistent, high‑quality service. The role requires flexibility and the ability to work both independently and as part of a supportive team, ensuring the best possible experience for the individuals we care for.

- Activity Involvement: Help plan and take part in activities tailored to each person’s interests and abilities, supporting social, physical, and cognitive engagement. Adapt activities to ensure they remain meaningful and enjoyable for all.
- Advocacy & Empowerment: Champion the rights, preferences, and needs of service users. Encourage independence by supporting individuals to make informed choices about their care and daily activities.
- Safety & Risk Management: Maintain a safe and secure environment by following health and safety procedures, completing risk assessments, and upholding safeguarding responsibilities.
- Communication: Communicate clearly and respectfully with service users, their families, and the wider care team. Ensure all interactions are inclusive, professional, and centred on the person’s needs.
- Record Keeping: Maintain accurate, up‑to‑date records of care delivered, incidents, observations, and any changes in condition, in line with organisational policies and regulatory requirements.
- Team Collaboration: Work effectively with colleagues, healthcare professionals, and external partners to deliver holistic, person‑centred support that meets the diverse and complex needs of service users.
