As a Professional Officer, you will support senior managers and help drive the smooth operation, maintenance and improvement of our highways network. Your work will make a real difference to communities across the region. This is a varied and rewarding role, offering exposure to highways management and a wide range of initiatives.
We welcome graduates from science, technology or mathematics backgrounds, even if you have not previously considered a career in engineering. You will gain hands-on experience, develop new skills, and be part of a supportive team that values your ideas and contribution.
About You
You are organised, motivated and ready to make a real impact. You thrive in a fast paced environment, juggling priorities with ease and delivering results both independently and as part of a team. Clear communication, strong problem solving skills and the ability to work under pressure are your strengths. You are confident using Microsoft Office applications including Word, Excel and Outlook, and have the analytical skills to support the delivery of a high quality professional service. Most importantly, you are eager to learn as full training will be provided to help you grow and succeed in this role.
Desirable skills and experience
- A degree in a STEM subject or another numerate discipline would be an advantage but is not essential.
- Experience in business management, implementing new processes or using GIS, CAD or mapping systems will help you hit the ground running.
- A proactive approach to continuous improvement and a clear understanding of data protection, confidentiality and security principles will set you apart.
