Corserv Solutions Limited are seeking to recruit an experienced fleet and plant workshop manager to oversee the day‑to‑day management of our workshops located at Bodmin and Launceston. This is a key position within our business, responsible for supporting the smooth day‑to‑day operation of CORMAC’s commercial vehicle workshops and ensuring full compliance with Operator Licence requirements.

You will provide proactive support to both internal and external customers across our county‑wide vehicle and plant workshop services, while also contributing to wider business areas including Fleet Services, Pool Cars, Company Car Schemes, Valeting, Asset Replacement, Parts Provision, and Compliance. As part of this role, you will play a vital part in the ongoing success and financial performance of the business. You’ll lead the operational management and maintenance of vehicles and plant across Corserv, ensuring they are safe, compliant, fit for purpose, and available when needed.

You will also support the delivery of maintenance services for the Transport for Cornwall contract, working closely with suppliers and customers to operate the workshop as a fully commercial, customer‑focused service. Key responsibilities include ensuring the safe and compliant operation of the workshops, promoting safe working practices for technicians, and managing site access for visitors.

The role involves regular use of a range of IT systems, including Microsoft Office (Word, Excel), Power BI, SharePoint, in‑house fleet management systems, telematics, fuel systems, and corporate finance platforms. This is an office‑based role.

About you

  • NVQ Level 3 in General Management (or equivalent) or significant experience in an engineering management role.
  • Proven experience leading and managing teams within an engineering or vehicle maintenance environment.
  • Strong technical and diagnostic expertise in light, medium, and commercial vehicles (HGV/PSV), supported by relevant qualifications (e.g. City & Guilds or equivalent).
  • Sound understanding of Operator’s Licence requirements and workshop compliance standards.
  • Experience of operational planning, asset utilisation, and managing budgets within a commercial setting.
  • Good knowledge of health and safety management within a workshop environment.
  • Ability to prioritise workloads, work independently, and consistently meet deadlines.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to manage both staff and customers effectively.
  • Experience in customer engagement, including maintaining client relationships and contracts.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and experience with fleet management systems (e.g. 1Link, R2C, Tradex).
