Responsibilities

Role purpose: This is an essential role supporting people in Cornwall to return to or remain in their homes and to be as safe and independent as possible. The role of the Support Worker is critical to the success of an individual in meeting their agreed outcomes. This will involve working with other professionals, team members, or working alone to carry out the care/reablement plan with the individual, promoting flexibility, dignity, respect, wellbeing, confidence and independence, so that the person has the best quality of life. You will offer safe and appropriate support to each individual in a person-centred way, complying with and maintaining best practice in relation to Health & safety matters, which will include basic risk assessments and the prevention and control of infection. Using an innovative approach to positively support customers to achieve as much independence as they are able to. Your job will be to maintain accurate and factual records as a legal requirement in order to evidence and communicate actions and outcomes effectively to others, maintaining safe working practices as a lone worker or doubled handed working, to ensure the health, safety and wellbeing of service users, self and others. Monitoring the health, wellbeing and progress of service users and report any concerns/changes back to management in order to protect and safeguard vulnerable adults. You will ensure a positive and flexible approach to the variety of tasks within the role, including supporting service users with their daily living skills, personal care, meal preparation and housekeeping. Working with families, healthcare professionals and occupational therapists and supporting service users to access community opportunities. You will operate in accordance with the diverse needs of the community to ensure equal access to services and be responsible for your continuous development and to undertake relevant training as required.

Safeguarding: We are committed to safeguarding the welfare of all our service users, clients and customers. This role is subject to an Enhanced DBS check.

Benefits and Employment Details

  • Flexible working patterns, paid mileage and overtime available, to be discussed at interview
  • Guaranteed Payment: A salary of £23,048 pa (£12.63 per hour). Overtime may be available. You are always paid for a full shift, even in the event of a client cancellation. Time & half for overtime, over 40 hours. Guaranteed Paid Travel Time & Mileage: 45p per mile. This includes travel, and contact time, for a consistent and worry-free salary.
  • After probation period of 6 months, you could join our \\\"Car Lease Scheme\\\"
  • Paid DBS: Corserv Care will pay for your Enhanced DBS.
  • Pension: A generous pension scheme with employer contribution.
  • Annual Leave: 31 days (including Bank Holidays). This is pro-rata for part time working patterns, with an option to buy up to 1-week extra leave.
  • Permanent Workers: Full time and Part time opportunities available (within the working pattern hours).
  • Bank Worker: Opportunities for permanent employees to work in other care services across the organisation, doing additional ad hoc hours on a zero hours contract.
  • Hours - Guaranteed Two Week Set Working Pattern: Week 1 and Week 2 rolling rota; all rounds start 07:00-14:00, evening rounds 17:00-22:00, and working every other weekend is mandatory.
  • Training and development: Full induction, mandatory training (Care Certificate, Moving and Handling, Basic Life Support). E-learning, job shadowing, team and office support; management 1-to-1s, supervision, and annual appraisals. Potential progression to Level 2/3 Health and Social Care qualifications.
  • Equipment: A full uniform, full PPE, work SMART phone, lone-working device.
  • Access to Employee Discount Scheme, Blue Light Card and Vectis Card for discounts.
