We are looking for a Grounds Maintenance Operative to join our team, covering various sites across Cornwall. This will involve grass cutting, trimming hedges, weeding shrub beds, maintenance of sports pitches, council run cemeteries and closed churchyards. The successful candidates will have a wealth of experience in grounds maintenance and a proven track record of delivering excellent customer service. During the winter period, there will be the need for highways works.
The role of Grounds Maintenance Operative will include:
- To comply with all relevant Health and Safety legislation and company policies, including carrying out point of work risk assessments.
- Ensure electronic paperwork is correct and submitted on time.
- Litter picking, shrub pruning, grass and hedge cutting, weed control and removal.
- A genuine interest in horticulture.
- Using equipment and materials in a safe manner as instructed and in accordance with risk assessments, manufacturer’s guidance and company policy.
- Carrying out all hazardous tasks such as weed control, in accordance with supplier guidelines ensuring relevant records are maintained to comply with health and safety and legal requirements.
- Ensuring tools and equipment are maintained in good condition and continue to be suitable for required tasks.
- Assist in responding positively to requests for service and breakdowns in service delivery to meet customer expectations.
We are looking for you to bring:
- Recent experience of undertaking a similar role and experience of operating grounds maintenance machinery.
- This role will involve driving on company business. In order to drive a company vehicle, drivers must hold a full valid UK driving licence Class B1; Class C1E is desirable.
- Self-motivation with the ability to use own initiative.
