This is an exciting opportunity for a Civil Engineering Apprentice Technician to be supported through their programme, while working within our diverse business. You will work towards successfully achieving the Level 3 Civil Engineering Technician Apprenticeship Standard and gain experience while undertaking planned rotation within Cormac.

You will also be working towards a technician role and will be expected to complete successfully a professional Engineering Technician review and End Point Assessment with the Institution of Civil Engineers at the end of your 2-year apprenticeship, gaining the use of the Eng Tech MICE post nominals.

About the role:

  • Providing technical support to Civil Engineers and other construction professionals, by undertaking technical activities associated with the delivery of schemes within Cormac.
  • Working with Consultancy, Contracting, Operations and Network staff, other Cormac colleagues and Cornwall Council staff to deliver highway schemes and other civil engineering projects.

Duties include (but are not limited to):

  • Complete the Civil Engineering Technician Apprenticeship, maintaining regular attendance and achievement levels.
  • Support the consultation process for schemes and proposals.
  • Data collection, analysis and production of reports.
  • Production of drawings using Computer Aided Design (CAD).
  • Attending site meetings to review works and providing technical advice and guidance.

We are looking for:

  • An employee who is passionate about the design, build and improvement of Cornwall’s highways network, providing a safe travel route for the public!
  • You will be committed to completing a Civil Engineering Technician apprenticeship and continuing your personal development.
  • Eligible to drive in the UK: Full driving licence or provisional driving licence and ability to achieve full driving licence within the first 12 months, plus access to transport and a willingness to travel to sites not serviced by public transport.
  • Current or predicted 5 GCSEs at Grade 4/C or above, including maths and English.
  • Desirable: Current or predicted GCSE Grade 4/C or above (or equivalent) in a Science or construction related qualification.

Our offer to you:

  • Salary: £18,693.75 per year, progressing after 12 months to the Real Living Wage (as set by the Living Wage Foundation).
  • Working Hours: 37 hours per week.
  • Contract Type: permanent, full time.
  • Location: Cornwall - you will be allocated to a site and supervisor upon appointment and then rotation within the business.
  • Closing date: Midnight Sunday 14th June 2026.
