This is an opportunity to join a fantastic medtech company with an exciting product portfolio and project pipeline during a phase of rapid expansion. We are looking for candidates with experience in Medical Devices, preferably in the areas of product design and product development. The role is ideally suited for candidates who have a few years of industry experience and are seeking their next role to advance their career. The ideal applicant has a degree in Engineering and over 5 years of experience in design engineering, alongside strong CAD and analytical skills. However, individuals from the life sciences sector with experience working under strict regulations will also be considered. While a relevant degree in Medical or Mechanical Engineering or a related field is preferred, it is not essential if you have substantial experience as a Mechanical Design Engineer in the Medical Devices sector.
What You’ll Do
- Lead the design of orthopaedic implants and instrumentation
- Create concept & detailed designs using CAD, FEA and PLM best practices
- Review design outputs and mentor PDE team members
- Deliver full design packages and support design transfer to Production
- Manage Engineering Change Control and design control documentation
- Lead risk management, problem‑solving and CAPA‑related design activities
- Collaborate with Manufacturing, Quality & Regulatory teams
- Support IP generation and present project outcomes to customers
- Maintain knowledge of orthopaedic technologies and regulatory expectations
About You
- Degree in Mechanical, Biomedical or Product Design Engineering with relevant industry experience in R&D, Product Development or Research industry occupation
- Several years experience in Medical device design in medical devices, orthopaedics, or other regulated industries
- Excellent communication, organisation and decision‑making skills
- Creative problem‑solver with attention to detail and big‑picture awareness
- Able to work at pace, lead design activities and collaborate across teams
- Strong collaboration with PM to drive the direction of the design
