This is a vital leadership role that requires an individual who is eager to engage directly with project teams across multiple sectors. You will act as both a mentor and a technical strategist, ensuring our architectural ambitions are matched by rigorous delivery and quality. This role reports directly to the Office Leaders, Sector Leaders, and the Director of Architecture.
Responsibilities
- Lead the technical delivery of projects, ensuring that compliance, quality, and safety are embedded in our design process.
- Provide strategic oversight while maintaining a hands‑on approach to guiding teams through complex construction challenges.
- Collaborate closely with studio and project leaders to resolve technical issues in real time, ensuring seamless delivery for our clients.
- Actively develop staff capabilities and foster a culture of technical excellence across the region.
- Provide expert guidance on building regulations, including CDM, BCAR, BSA, and PSDP, while overseeing specification writing and code compliance.
- Lead technical and safety reviews throughout all project phases to ensure adherence to H&S, Quality, Environmental, and BIM Information Management standards.
- Manage the delivery of Principal Designer, Assigned Designer, and Assigned Certifier roles for regional projects.
- Drive advancements in construction technology and sustainable design solutions to keep our practice at the forefront of the industry and current market trends.
Qualifications
- A professional accredited degree in Architecture or Architectural Technology.
- RIBA or RIAI Chartered Architect or Architectural Technologist (ideally CIAT Chartered); CSCS, PSDP, IOSH or similar qualifications an advantage.
- Minimum 15+ years of experience in architectural practice, with a strong quality, technical and regulatory focus.
- Experience in providing technical leadership on large complex projects ideally with experience in Aviation, Data Centers, Residential & Commercial.
- Experience working in project delivery in the UK and/or Ireland, with wider European experience an advantage.
- Strong knowledge and understanding of UK & Irish building codes and regulations with proficiency and expertise in the full range of architectural building systems.
- Ability to share credible high‑level guidance to project teams throughout all project phases.
- Thorough understanding of Specification Writing ideally using NBS Chorus.
- Understanding of ISO9001, ISO14001, ISO19650 standards and broader compliance processes, particularly in relation to Health and Safety.
- Understanding of Revit & BIM; Understanding of LEED, WELL, BREEAM project requirements.
