We are looking for dynamic and talented sustainability consultants, either Consultant, Senior Consultant or Associate Director level. Based within one of our growing offices in Bristol, Birmingham, London or Truro (with hybrid working as standard), you’ll join our growing Advisory Services team, collaborating across disciplines to deliver strategic sustainability advice on a wide variety of projects – from major masterplans and university campuses to commercial and public sector developments.
You’ll play a key role in helping clients understand, plan, and deliver practical advice to address sustainability standards, guidelines and frameworks. Examples include BREEAM, Ska and NABERS alongside overarching Net Zero and Climate Resilience outcomes.
Core Responsibilities
- Support or lead the delivery of sustainability assessment methods or frameworks including BREEAM, Ska, WELL, NABERS etc.
- Prepare and develop energy and sustainability strategies in support of client, planning or legislative requirements.
- Advise clients across buildings and infrastructure in the private sector across various sustainability metrics (management, health and wellbeing, energy, transport, water, materials, waste, land use and ecology, pollution, innovation).
- Support building environmental modelling and energy/carbon reporting such as energy modelling, whole life carbon reporting and building physics related disciplines.
- Prepare reports and client‑facing deliverables that translate technical findings into clear, actionable advice.
- Build strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders — from architects and engineers to planning consultants and investors.
- Manage and deliver tasks to support senior colleagues.
- Communicate with colleagues, clients and partners.
- Curious mindset with the ability to spot issues and suggest solutions.
- Work collaboratively to deliver a sustainable built environment.
Senior Consultant or Associate Director responsibilities
- Lead projects and client relationships.
- Oversee and mentor junior team members.
- Contribute to business development, bid writing, and thought leadership within the advisory team.
- Help shape internal processes and innovation around sustainability in the built environment.
Requirements
- Degree level qualification, ideally in related environmental science or engineering (BSc / BEng).
- Experience within sustainability related‐role OR other property/built environment consultant or technical role with demonstrable transferable skills and knowledge.
- Understanding of sustainable design in the built environment.
- A genuine interest in energy and sustainability.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills and ability to simplify technical information for non‑technical audiences.
- Analytical thinking and problem‑solving skills.
- Strong attention to detail and organisational skills.
- Strong communication and presentation skills.
- BREEAM / Ska / WELL / NABERS / DREAM / LEED or other building environmental assessment method or sustainability frameworks.
- Hold Assessor accreditation with BREEAM / Ska / WELL / NABERS / DREAM / LEED or other building environmental assessment method or sustainability frameworks.
- Energy strategy, whole life carbon/lifecycle modelling and other related building physics modelling.
Senior Consultant or Associate Director additional requirements
- Bring several years of relevant consultancy experience.
- Be working to or hold professional accreditation with relevant body.
- Proven ability to manage projects, budgets and client relationships.
- Demonstrate strong technical knowledge of energy, sustainability, whole life carbon, building physics and/or building environmental assessment methods such as BREEAM.
- The ability to mentor junior colleagues and contribute to team leadership.
