The POCT Lead is responsible for the provision of an efficient and effective Point Of Care Testing service at Lister Hospital within East & North Hertfordshire NHS Trust. The role includes managerial, operational and technical responsibilities, regular reporting to senior management, and deputising for other POCT Leads, including travel within the region as required.
Key Responsibilities
- Line management of POCT Associate Practitioners
- Produce monthly reports for key internal and external stakeholders
- Chair departmental meetings and actively participate in external meetings
- Schedule and deliver Link Trainer and user training, ensuring clinical staff are familiar with analytical procedures, maintenance, and troubleshooting of POCT equipment via adequate training and competency assessment
- Interpret Internal Quality Control (IQC) and External Quality Assessment (EQA) performance data and report to stakeholders
- Work with QMG to ensure the POCT service meets UKAS accreditation standards
- Lead new device validations, upgrades and changes within POCT
- Develop service and increase scope, with a view to extend into community settings in due course
- Update and produce documentation within POCT
