Finance & Procurement Directorate Professional & Business Support Grade 7 – £39,906 to £44,746 per annum (depending on experience). This role attracts a market supplement of £7,500 per annum. This supplement is a temporary non‑consolidated payment and will be reviewed on an annual basis.

Through strategic business partnering we enable the delivery of routine and standard procurement activities alongside commercial excellence, by delivering best practice procurement outcomes for transformational projects. The team are dedicated to professional growth and continuous professional development. The role requires driven individuals with proven track records in commercial leadership, business partnering and procurement expertise, experience and capability. You will need to think commercially, innovatively and flexibly, in order to optimise commercial and procurement outcomes.
You will:
- Deliver programmes of work attributable to strategic and complex procurement activities
- Engage with our internal and external stakeholders, 3rd party suppliers and supply markets
- Act as a lead commercial procurement expert working in consultation with subject matter experts across professional services and technical experts
- Develop and deliver procurement strategies including undertaking option appraisals and presenting commercial recommendations
- Develop strong working relationships across multiple disciplines throughout professional and academic services
- Analyse data and present reports to senior stakeholders
- Use planning techniques and risk management competencies
You will be contractually enrolled into the Local Government Pension Scheme (LGPS) – one of the largest and most generous defined benefit pension schemes in the country. If you are, or have been, a recent member of the Universities Superannuation Scheme (USS) directly prior to joining us, you can choose to opt out of the LGPS and remain in the USS. Please contact the Pensions team to discuss options available.
