Overview

Senior Biomedical Scientist (Fixed-term Contract) in Manual Chemistry, based at 1 Mabledon Place, London. Fixed-term contract until September 2027, full-time (37.5 hours per week). Salary up to £66,336 per annum DOE inclusive of regional pay allowance.

Responsibilities

  • Perform biochemical analyses in Mass Spectrometry within the Biochemistry Department, including LC-MS, GC-MS, ICP-MS and HPLC.
  • Operate, maintain and troubleshoot instrumentation; interpret results and ensure data quality; contribute to method development and optimization where appropriate.
  • Support senior scientists and take responsibility for own work and, where appropriate, colleagues’ work; participate in shift patterns and weekend work as required (core hours 9:00–17:30 with potential shifts 08:00–21:00).
  • Adhere to safety, quality, and DBS-related requirements as part of on-boarding and ongoing employment.

Qualifications

  • Specialist Diploma in Clinical Biochemistry or MSc in a relevant subject; at least 3 years’ experience in a Chemistry laboratory as an established Biomedical Scientist.
  • Experience in mass spectrometry techniques and instrumentation is advantageous.
  • Self-motivated, innovative, flexible, reliable with good interpersonal skills and the ability to use initiative.
