The Faculty of Life Sciences & Medicine at King’s College London seeks to appoint a Research Fellow in Computational Biostatistics in the Comprehensive Cancer Centre, which is the academic arm of one of the leading cancer centres in Europe bringing together world-class clinical services delivered by our NHS partners, with research and education for the benefit of cancer patients in South East London and beyond.

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Research Fellow in Computational Biostatistics with excellent technical skill and extensive experience analysing complex data sets in a translational research environment. You will apply your biostatistics skills to technology-driven research questions across the broad range of multimodal data with a focus on spatial transcriptomics, single cell and large-scale omics and support for imaging, including medical imaging and digital pathology, data using cutting-edge AI and machine learning approaches. The ideal candidate will play a critical role in integrating diverse data sources to uncover mechanistic insights and inform precision medicine strategies.

You will work closely with the bioinformatics and clinical data teams to design experiments, explore and analyse complex data sets, formulate analysis strategies, implement statistical approaches, interpret and explain analysis results. You will build bespoke statistical analysis pipelines using the latest methods to help deliver results. Moreover, you bear responsibilities for developing the general level of statistical thinking across PharosAI activities. This is a full-time position and you will be offered a fixed term contract until 31 March 2027.

To be successful in this role, we are looking for candidates to have the following skills and experience:

  • Provide statistical analysis expertise to achieve complex PharosAI’s research objectives.
  • Experience in AI & Machine Learning and causal inference methodologies for robust and generalisable multimodal data analyses.
  • Analyse data to interpret outcomes, predict trends, and inform decision-making across many disciplines.
  • Experience in Bayesian statistical analyses approaches.
  • Engage with industrial and academic partners to apply novel mathematical, statistical and machine learning and artificial intelligence techniques to relevant problems.
  • Work independently at all points of the data analysis workflow.
  • Experience of mentorship of statistical projects and providing statistical support to non-computational colleagues.
  • Experience of working in multi-disciplinary teams and the ability to present data to audiences of different disciplines.
  • Experience of working with industry and NHS.
  • Strong organisational skills and attention to detail.
