We are seeking to appoint a Research Assistant to join Professor Ellie Barnes’ research team in the Centre for Immuno-Oncology and contribute to the LynchVax programme.

You will be responsible for contributing to the laboratory analysis of clinical trial samples from the INTERCEPT-Lynch trial, working to Good Clinical and Laboratory Practice (GCLP) or GCLP-like standards. You will process and analyse clinical and biological samples and undertake immunological and molecular assays, with key assays including ELISpot, intracellular cytokine staining and NGS-based assays, including Whole Genome Sequencing and T-Cell Receptor sequencing.

You will select, follow and adapt experimental protocols, contribute to experimental planning, troubleshoot technical issues and gather, analyse and interpret research data. You will maintain accurate laboratory and sample records and contribute to laboratory and quality management, scientific reports, publications and the presentation of research findings. You will work closely with colleagues across the LynchVax programme and collaborating research groups.

It is essential that you hold a degree in a relevant subject, such as immunology, biomedical science, molecular biology, biochemistry, cancer biology or a related discipline, together with relevant experience. You will have sufficient specialist knowledge and practical laboratory experience to contribute effectively to an established research programme, including experience of working in a biomedical, molecular, immunological or clinical research laboratory. You will have experience of processing and handling human biological samples and practical experience with relevant immunological and molecular biology techniques. This may include flow cytometry, ELISpot, intracellular cytokine staining, DNA/RNA extraction and NGS assays, including Whole Genome Sequencing and T-Cell Receptor sequencing.

This is an excellent opportunity to contribute to a multidisciplinary translational research programme investigating a novel preventative approach for Lynch syndrome, with the potential to inform future clinical practice.
