Postdoctoral Researcher in Computational Analysis of Structural Renal Pathology

We are seeking to appoint a Postdoctoral Researcher to join the Oxford Kidney Pathology Group. Your work will include analysis of omics data generated from human kidney biopsy tissue, as well as collaborative work on the high-resolution structure of the podocyte slit diaphragm.

The Oxford Kidney Pathology (Bull) Group have an interest in structurally informed analysis of kidney spatial transcriptomics, developing and applying computational methods to explore renal pathology across tissue scales. This project will focus on tubular injury patterning and on glomerular disease.

You will be responsible for planning, managing and conducting the academic research project and associated activities; taking direction from the Principal Investigator and other colleagues in the laboratory as appropriate. You will be testing hypotheses and analysing scientific data from a variety of sources, reviewing and refining working hypotheses as appropriate. You will develop research questions, analyse detailed and complex qualitative and/or quantitative data from a variety of sources, and contribute original ideas for new research projects.

It is essential that you hold a PhD/DPhil (or close to completion) in mathematics including applied modelling of biological processes. You must have the ability to integrate mathematical, statistical and biophysical approaches to address biological questions. This position is offered part- time on a fixed term contract until 31 December 2026 and is funded by EU/ UKRI.

Salary (£) : Research Grade 7: Salary in range £39,424 - £45,212 per annum (pro rata). This is inclusive of a pensionable Oxford University Weighting of £1,730 per year (pro rata)
