Nuffield Department of Orthopaedics, Rheumatology and Musculoskeletal Sciences (NDORMS) Grade 5: Salary in the range of £32,108-£35,681 per annum. The Nuffield Department of Orthopaedics, Rheumatology and Musculoskeletal Sciences (NDORMS) is part of the Medical Sciences Division and is the largest European academic department in its field, running a globally competitive programme of research and teaching. The Botnar Research Centre enables and encourages research and education into the causes of musculoskeletal disease and their treatment. The Centre provides world‑class facilities for scientists in the field of musculoskeletal research.
Oxford Translational Myeloma Centre (OTMC), NDORMS, is based at the Botnar Institute and is dedicated to advancing personalised care in Multiple Myeloma and related plasma cell dyscrasias towards achieving better patient outcome and cure. OTMCbio is a new Biobanking protocol, whose purpose is to collect and store samples from patients, and support the translational programmes of OTMC.

About the Role:
The postholder will be a member of the Biobank team led by the Chief Investigator (Professor Anjan Thankurta) and will be based in our laboratory at Botnar Institute. The postholder will process samples for OTMC biobank, monitor results to spot discrepancies and propose refinements and re‑run experiments where necessary, ensure the smooth day‑to‑day running of the laboratory, e.g. by ensuring equipment is functioning and monitoring and ordering stock as necessary. They will also ensure that Biobank operations are in accordance with SOPs and all regulatory and research governance requirements (including the Human Tissue Act), as well as check and record the identity and quality of samples on receipt and throughout the process to long‑term storage. About You:
You will hold a first degree in Healthcare/Management/Science‑related subject or relevant equivalent experience. You will also have previous experience of working in a laboratory environment and handling human samples (blood, bone marrow etc.). Experience of sample processing in managed research studies or clinical trial, as well as hands‑on experience of tissue bank techniques, is desirable.
