The Medical Sciences Divisional Office HR team are seeking an experienced, self‑motivated HR professional to support the Medical Sciences HR Team. The role of HR Assistant is to support all aspects of Divisional HR, working alongside the HR Operations Manager and the wider HR team. This role provides comprehensive HR administrative support within the Medical Sciences Divisional Office, covering both generalist and academic HR activities. The post-holder will act as the primary point of contact for HR‑related enquiries, offering advice to managers and staff in line with University policies while ensuring excellent customer service standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the MSDO HR team with recruitment activity, including adverts, applications, interviews and appointment paperwork.
- Maintain accurate HR records, systems and reports, including payroll‑related administration.
- Act as a first point of contact for HR queries, providing advice and guidance to staff and managers.
- Prepare HR correspondence and documentation across the employee lifecycle.
- Provide administrative support across the HR team and help maintain effective processes and procedures.
- Support academic HR activity, including review processes and honorary titles.
- Contribute to improving, streamlining and automating HR processes.
Skills and Qualifications
- Qualified or working toward CIPD Associate membership level or have equivalent experience.
- Ability to develop professional and effective working relationships with key stakeholders.
- Ability to clearly and accurately communicate processes and procedures verbally and in writing.
- Experience of Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, SharePoint etc.
- High standard of attention to detail and excellent organisational and planning skills.
- Desirable – HR experience within the University of Oxford (or other higher education institution) or an NHS setting.
- Desirable – Experience of continuous improvement and utilising Power Automate to improve processes within a team.
