We are seeking to appoint a Flow Cytometry Facility Assistant that will work across a few different units and researchers across the Old Road Campus Research Building (ORCRB) as well as the wider scientific community in Oxford to provide a range of flow cytometry services as well as experimental support and instruments training.
As an active member of the Fluorescence-activated Cell Sorter (FACS) Small Research Facility (SRF) you will report to the Facility Manager and Business Manager to assist with the day-to-day maintenance and booking of instruments. You will liaise with facility users and collaborators to provide them with training on both flow cytometer analyser and fluorescence-activated cell sorters. You will have the opportunity to support the Flow Cytometry Facility Manager and researchers at the ORCRB with development of assays to assess a range of cellular types, using multiple colour panels. You will work with the FACS SRF Manager to develop and implement new methods and techniques to address specific biological questions.
It is essential that you hold a BSc in a science subject as well as having experience in setting up and running Flow Cytometry assays and instruments. Equally you must have strong IT skills with a knowledge of Diva, FlowJo and Excel. It would be expected of you to be able to troubleshoot problems with experiments and arrive at appropriate solutions and take initiative where appropriate.

Salary (£) : Standard Grade 6: Salary in range £35,681 – £41,636 with a discretionary range to £45,212 per annum (pro rata). This is inclusive of a pensionable Oxford University Weighting of £1,730 per year (pro rata).
