The Centre for the Study of African Economies (CSAE) is seeking an experienced and proactive Communications Manager to provide maternity leave cover and ensure continuity across its communications, events, and stakeholder engagement activities. This pivotal role is responsible for managing the Centre's communications strategy, overseeing the delivery of high-profile international events, and promoting CSAE's world-leading research to academic, policy, and practitioner audiences.
Reporting directly to the CSAE Executive Director and line managing the CSAE Events Coordinator, the postholder will play a key role in maintaining CSAE's international profile and supporting its research community. The successful candidate will work closely with researchers across the Department of Economics, the Blavatnik School of Government, and the Oxford Department for International Development, as well as with external stakeholders across Africa and the wider international development community.
A key priority upon appointment will be to assume responsibility for the annual CSAE Conference, a flagship international event attracting more than 400 delegates each year. The postholder will oversee the final stages of planning and successful delivery of the 2027 Conference and will subsequently begin preparations for the 2028 Conference to ensure seamless continuity during the maternity leave period.
