The Faculty of Classics seeks to appoint a Communications and Administration Officer to join its professional services team. This is an exciting opportunity to take on a newly created role within one of the world's leading centres for the study of the ancient world. The successful candidate will play a key role in supporting the Faculty's communications activities, research administration and governance processes, helping to promote the Faculty's work and contribute to the effective operation of a thriving academic community.

This full-time, permanent post offers a hybrid working arrangement of a minimum of three days per week on-site and up to two days working from home. The postholder will work closely with academic and professional services colleagues across the Faculty, its research centres and the Humanities Division.

The Communications and Administration Officer will lead on the delivery of the Faculty's communications activities and provide administrative support for key research and governance functions. The successful candidate will develop and implement the Faculty's communications strategy, acting as the main point of contact for communications matters and working closely with divisional and central University communications teams.

They will be responsible for managing the Faculty's website and social media channels, alongside the websites of the Centre for the Study of Ancient Documents (CSAD) and the Classical Art Research Centre (CARC), ensuring the effective promotion of research, events and other Faculty activities. The postholder will support the Faculty's research environment by working closely with the Director of Research and the Head of Administration and Finance.

Responsibilities will include servicing research‑related committees, supporting research assessment and reporting activities, and providing administrative support to CSAD and CARC, including support for visitors, committees and annual reporting processes. The role also includes servicing the Faculty Board, ensuring the timely circulation of papers and the effective follow‑up of actions.

This is a varied and rewarding position requiring excellent communication, organisational and relationship‑management skills, together with the ability to manage competing priorities and work effectively with a wide range of stakeholders.
