Saïd Business School and New College are recruiting an Associate Professor of Strategy. The post is tenable from 06 September 2027, or at a later date by agreement. The successful candidate will be both a member of Saïd Business School and a Governing Body Fellow of New College. This is a tenure-track position. In exceptional cases, where the candidate has previously established an academic standing at an appropriate level of distinction, the title of full professor may be awarded at the time of appointment.

The School’s Strategic Management group is based in the Strategy, Innovation, International Business and Marketing (SIM) Academic Area. The group examines strategy through a wide lens, exploring the processes, practices, relationships and people associated with organizational strategy. This includes both market and non-market strategy, pertaining to organisations in the private sector, public sector, and civil society. The group’s research explores strategy communications as well as strategic competition and collaboration; and institutional environments as well as competitive environments. The group is inter-disciplinary - grounded in sociology, psychology, economics, cognitive science, and political science, as well as the arts and the humanities. Members regularly publish in top-tier journals and take leadership positions within the discipline internationally.

In summary, the focus will be to undertake and publish original world-class research and deliver a similar standard of teaching in Strategic Management topics, and support in the day-to-day management of the School. College duties will revolve around a small amount of tutorial teaching, assisting the college tutors with their Economics & Management course and, as for the School, support in the day-to-day management and administrative activities.

The role of Associate Professor at Oxford: Associate Professor is the main academic career grade at Oxford with a focus on research and teaching. Associate Professors are appointed jointly by a University department/faculty and an Oxford college, and you will have a contract with both. Associate Professors are full members of University departments/faculties and college governing bodies playing a role in the democratic governance of the University and their college.
