RDM Division of Cardiovascular Medicine, John Radcliffe Hospital, Oxford, OX3 9DU

Would you like to have a career in clinical research?

We have a brandnew apprenticeship post, which offers the opportunity for an enthusiastic candidate to enter the exciting world of clinical research and be part of the AMIIC team. The Acute Multidisciplinary Imaging and Intervention Centre (AMIIC), is part of the Division of Cardiovascular Medicine at the University of Oxford and located within the John Radcliffe Hospital. We are looking for an Apprentice Research Administrator, to undertake a 2-year training programme to complete a Level 3 Business Administrator Apprenticeship.

You will report to, and work alongside the ORFAN Project Manager (Oxford Risk Factors And Non-Invasive Imaging Study) and will be supported to learn many aspects of research administration throughout the 2-year tenure. The apprenticeship is designed to enable the successful candidate to gain the skills, knowledge and experience required to apply for research-related roles at the end of the apprenticeship within the area of their interest, either research administrator/coordinator posts, or research delivery roles (Research Assistant etc.). Your day to day work and training will provide a foundation of research administration, and will be delivered through in-house training within AMIIC, as well as day-release or other distance learning methods delivered by Abingdon and Witney College. College attendance and successful completion of these studies is an essential requirement of this Apprenticeship.

About you

You do not need any experience, but should be able to show a keen interest and basic understanding of what working in the field of clinical research involves. This is primarily an office-based role, but with the opportunity to get involved in some research delivery aspects as part of the training e.g. preparation and management of blood samples, and to observe some participant visits towards the latter end of training. This role will require a high level of collaboration and close working with all members of the multidisciplinary team, which presents an exciting opportunity for a proactive and problem-solving candidate.
