An opportunity has arisen for a full time Medical Laboratory Assistant position in the Microbiology team at Northwick Park Hospital. The department processes in excess of 320,000 samples per annum arising from a wide range of clinical situations and specialities. You will be working in a refurbished, well‑equipped laboratory, with advanced diagnostic and IT systems. An interesting and varied workload, together with new automated solutions within the department, will allow you to gain unique and valuable experience of modern microbiology practice. The laboratory is situated in Harrow and offers a pleasant and spacious working environment and excellent staff facilities.
Responsibilities:
- Collecting, sorting and testing samples
- Registering specimens in Laboratory IT system WinPath and Helix
- Answering telephone enquiries
- Using Kiestra laboratory automation, Bactec, Phoenix, Sedimax, Dynex DS2, GeneXpert and EntericBio analysers
- Maintaining equipment, stock, and daily housekeeping
- Participating in a seven‑day rota comprising early, core, late and night shifts
