About the role

We are looking for a Bank Medical Laboratory Assistant to join our Sample Reception team at our 60 Whitfield Street/UCLH Site. The role involves the receipt, identification, pre‑analytical preparation and storage of samples and request forms for various service users. The candidate will triage and dispatch samples, refer to third‑party laboratories, and work with the RRL Helpdesk team, engaging clients and service users via telephone and email. The laboratory operates a 24/7 service and the successful candidate will be expected to participate in shifts as required by departmental needs.

Responsibilities

  • Receipt, identification and pre‑analytical preparation & storage of samples and request forms for various service users.
  • Triaging and dispatching all samples to correct locations, ensuring an accurate audit trail via the tube tracker system.
  • Referral of samples to third‑party laboratories.
  • Working with the RRL Helpdesk team, engaging with clients and service users via telephone and email.

Qualifications

No prior experience is required but the successful candidate will have good computer skills, good verbal & written communication skills, work well in a team and a flexible approach to both workload & task allocation.
