About the role
There is an exciting opportunity within the Health Services Laboratories for an experienced HCPC‐registered Biomedical Scientist to join the Biochemistry Department at the Royal Free Hospital Hampstead site on a Bank Contract. Unfortunately, this is not a training role and experienced band 6 BMS staff only will be considered.
Responsibilities
- Provide a comprehensive, high‐quality Biochemistry service to all service users at the Royal Free Hospital.
- Demonstrate specialist knowledge in Biochemistry and have experience in day‐to‐day running of the laboratory.
- Show effective leadership and communication skills; manage junior staff in a positive and efficient manner.
- Participate in maintaining UKAS ISO 15189:2022 by engaging in all aspects of the quality management system.
- Support the large renal and transplant service, where prior experience is advantageous.
- Participate in the shift rota, working 37.5 hours and covering 24/7 shifts once competency achieved.
- Take part in further development, including quality and training responsibilities as appropriate.
Qualifications
- HCPC‐registered Biomedical Scientist.
- Experienced Band 6 BMS only.
- Experience in a high‐throughput biochemistry laboratory.
- Demonstrated knowledge of UKAS ISO 15189:2022 and quality management.
Additional Requirements
- Completion of a DBS Check (standard) as part of onboarding.
