The University of Liverpool is seeking an experienced and ambitious Senior Research Fellow to join the Civic Health Innovation Labs (CHIL), a Research Centre of Excellence delivering both the Analogue2Digital theme of the NIHR Applied Research Collaboration North West Coast (ARC NWC) and the Civic HealthTech Innovation Zone (CHIZone). This is an exciting opportunity to lead the development, implementation and evaluation of innovative digital health programmes that improve health and care services and reduce health inequalities. This post is fixed term until 31 March 2031.
Working across ARC NWC, CHIZone and its HealthTech Design Studio, you will lead a portfolio of applied digital health research and implementation projects, working closely with NHS organisations, local authorities, industry partners, voluntary and community organisations, and public contributors. You will identify opportunities for digital innovation, develop collaborative partnerships, secure external funding, and translate evidence-based solutions into scalable and sustainable improvements in health and care.
You will play a key role in shaping regional and national digital health agendas, leading project implementation and evaluation, supporting knowledge exchange activities, and contributing to high-quality research publications and grant applications. The role offers the opportunity to build strategic partnerships across academia, health and care systems, industry and the public sector, helping to drive the adoption and impact of digital innovation at scale.
You should hold a PhD (or equivalent experience) in a relevant discipline and have a strong track record of leading applied research, implementation or innovation projects within health and care settings. Experience securing competitive research funding, developing cross-sector partnerships, and translating research into real-world impact is essential. Experience in digital health, AI-enabled technologies or health innovation would be particularly advantageous.
