The Department of Geography and Planning seeks to appoint a fixed-term University Lecturer in Geographic Data Science with a focus on Human Geography, to provide teaching cover while academic staff contribute to funded research projects commencing September 2026.
The School of Environmental Sciences is comprised of two departments: Department of Geography and Planning and the Department of Earth, Ocean and Ecological Sciences. We are looking for a candidate whose teaching expertise and experience encompasses geographic data science (human geography).
Your research and teaching should align with the Geographic Data Science Lab (GDSL) research group and links to other research groups across the School. We are especially interested in applicants with teaching and research expertise in Geographic Information Science (GIS), the application of geographic data science, and one or more of the following priority areas:
- retail and consumer data
- population
- health
- human mobility
- transport
- spatial inequalities
You would have responsibility for coordinating and delivering modules that span Geographic Data Science and teaching commitments, such as tutorials, open days and field trips.
