An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the Oxford School of Global and Area Studies (OSGA) as a Hallyu South Korean Studies Programme Administrator, supporting the Hallyu South Korean Studies Programme on a part-time, fixed-term basis.
The Role: We are seeking a talented, organised and proactive administrator to support the delivery and day-to-day administration of the Hallyu South Korean Studies Programme. Working as part of the OSGA Education Team and reporting to the Programme Coordinator and Examinations Lead, you will provide comprehensive administrative support to the Programme Director and play a central role in ensuring the smooth operation of the Programme's seminars, events and activities. You will work closely with colleagues across OSGA and the Faculty of Asian and Middle Eastern Studies (AMES), supporting an exciting programme that promotes South Korean studies through teaching, research and public engagement.
You will act as the first point of contact for the Programme, managing enquiries from staff, students, visiting researchers and external stakeholders while providing accurate advice and high-quality administrative support. You will coordinate seminars and events, maintain programme information and webpages, organise timetables, room bookings and communications, and support the Programme Director in planning and delivering Programme activities. The role also includes supporting visiting researchers and academic visitors, coordinating Programme meetings and committees, assisting with marketing and communications, maintaining accurate records, and ensuring that Programme activities comply with University procedures and financial regulations. You will support budget monitoring, process expenditure requests and expense claims, and liaise with Finance and HR colleagues on Programme-related matters. Working closely with colleagues across OSGA and the wider University, you will also contribute to Programme communications, alumni engagement, and the delivery of medium- and large-scale events and conferences.
This is an excellent opportunity to join a friendly, collaborative team and contribute to a dynamic international academic environment.
About You: You will have experience of academic administration or a similar administrative role within a complex organisation, ideally within higher education. Experience of postgraduate administration, events administration and budget monitoring would be advantageous. You will be highly organised, able to manage competing priorities and deliver accurate work to deadlines. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills are essential, together with the confidence to work with academic staff, students, visiting researchers and external partners from diverse backgrounds. You will have strong IT skills, including proficiency with Microsoft Office, excellent attention to detail, and the ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a small team. A flexible, proactive approach and commitment to delivering an excellent service and fostering an inclusive academic environment will be key to success in this role. Experience of maintaining website content, servicing committees, working within the collegiate University environment or supporting Korean cultural or academic activities would be an advantage. Korean language skills are desirable but not essential.
Working Arrangements: This role supports hybrid working, with an expectation that the postholder will work on-site for at least one day each week. The role is 0.4 FTE, equivalent to two full working days per week.
