Oxford Population Health (the Nuffield Department of Population Health) provides an excellent environment for multi-disciplinary research and teaching and for professional and support staff. We work together to answer some of the most important questions about the causes, prevention and treatment of disease.

We are seeking a Data Scientist to provide scientific leadership in the design, development, and evaluation of processes for transforming UK Biobank health and lifestyle data into standardised data models, with a focus on OMOP; to work closely with data engineers and collaborators to contribute to the design, implementation, maintenance, and improvement of OMOP ETL pipelines, and to ensure transformed datasets are standardised, validated, and research-ready.

To be considered, you must have a higher degree, such as an MSc or PhD, in epidemiology, data science, statistics, computer science, health informatics, or a related field. Other essential criteria include:

  • Excellent understanding of linked electronic health records and experience using them in epidemiological or population health research.
  • Significant experience analysing large, complex health datasets using statistical or programming software such as R, Stata, SAS, Python, or SQL.
