Overview
Senior Packaging Manager needed to lead packaging operations for a national beer brand in a fast-paced food and beverage factory. You’ll manage a packaging team, ensure safe, efficient production, and drive continuous improvement using lean tools. The role combines day-to-day leadership with strategic capacity planning, capital projects, and capability development. You will work closely with cross-functional stakeholders to support quality, safety, and optimization at scale.

Responsibilities
- Lead packaging operations to deliver production plans against quality, efficiency, cost and output targets
- Coach and develop packaging teams to boost technical competence
- Maintain and improve health and safety standards across the team
- Identify bottlenecks and implement practical solutions for pace and reliability
- Drive improvements in OEE, quality and output
- Support future capacity planning and capital investment projects
- Identify skills gaps and develop training plans for flexible, cross-functional working
- Foster a culture of continuous improvement and lean practices
- Ensure scheduling and KPI reporting for daily production
- Manage people processes including holidays, performance reviews, and disciplinary procedures
- Develop Supervisors into effective shift leaders to manage teams and lead change
- Collaborate with Compliance to meet food safety, certification and regulatory requirements
- Embed lean systems (5S, RCA) and continuous improvement across packaging
- Maintain quality compliance and robust data to inform decisions
Key requirements
- Extensive packaging or brewing management experience
- Experience with kegging and canning operations
- Proven track record in resolving packaging production issues
- Experience improving line performance and labour efficiency
- Experience with packaging equipment and suppliers; KHS/GPI experience advantageous
- Understanding of HACCP and food safety principles
- Strong knowledge of lean manufacturing and CI methodologies
- Experience embedding root cause analysis in operations
- Strong data management, reporting and record-keeping
- Good time-management and organizational skills
