I am very excited to be working with this client. They are synonymous with the creation of exemplary experiences in stunning venues. They are embarking on a period of expansion and to support this we are looking for a dynamic Development Manager to join them. This group are proud to do things differently; they value creativity and commercial ability equally β and demand both. The business is built on the pillars of collaboration, entrepreneurialism and good old fashioned hard work. They will prove that design-led, people-first foundations are the recipe for success.
The incoming Development Manager will need excellent experience across construction projects from acquisition through to opening. Ideally you will come from a lifestyle accommodation background, such as Hotels, Apart-hotels, BTR (high end) or PBSA. You will exercise calm organisational skills and have a very keen eye for the detail within technical design briefs. You will need to enjoy and embrace the creative side as well as be capable of steering projects and keeping the commercial aspects in check. We need emotional intelligence, a high level of integrity and the ability to work happily and comfortably through the evolution and development of the brand. If concrete systems and process are your thing β this is probably not the role for you.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead hospitality developments from acquisition through design, construction and completion
- Act as a senior owner-side representative across consultants, contractors and internal teams
- Own programme, budget and risk management across multiple projects
- Anticipate issues early and resolve them pragmatically
- Work closely with architects, interior designers and brand teams to ensure design intent is realised without compromising deliverability
- Champion high-quality outcomes in luxury, lifestyle and wellness-focused hospitality
- Coordinate and critically review design information across all RIBA stages
- Support feasibility studies, development appraisals, and due diligence processes
- Monitor development budgets and cost plans in close collaboration with cost consultants
- Shape procurement strategies and manage contractor and consultant appointments
- Balance cost, quality, programme and long-term operational value
Qualifications & Experience
- Minimum five years of experience in development management, project management, architecture, or a closely related discipline
- Proven track record delivering hotel, aparthotel or design-led hospitality projects, or the above adjacent sectors
- Professional qualification such as RICS, RIBA, or equivalent is preferred
- Strong technical understanding of the development and construction process is essential
There is a lot more to this opportunity too, including travel, and a focus on sustainability and accountability. If you are ready to truly commit to a role that will shape the landscape, please send me your CV β You must be able to live and work in the UK without restriction.
