We are seeking a Shopify Developer to join a fast-paced, collaborative digital agency environment, working across a diverse portfolio of lifestyle, beauty, fashion, nutrition and ecommerce brands. You'll be part of one of our BAU (business-as-usual) retainer squads, supporting 5-6 active clients with ongoing improvements, new features and optimisations to their Shopify storefronts.
In this role, you'll work closely with delivery managers, designers, QA and other developers, taking refined tickets into delivery, handling frequent context switching between clients, and ensuring work is completed to a high standard within agreed timeframes. You'll use your Shopify, Liquid, HTML, CSS and JavaScript skills to implement theme changes, build new components and maintain existing functionality, while collaborating with the wider team through daily stand-ups, sprint planning and retros.
We're looking for someone commercially aware, proactive in communication and comfortable working in an agency setting, ideally with prior agency experience, who is happy to be in either our Liverpool or Leeds office three days per week and is keen to keep up with the latest developments in the Shopify ecosystem.
Key Responsibilities- Build, maintain and enhance Shopify storefronts for a wide range of eCommerce clients.
- Collaborate closely with delivery managers, designers, QA and other developers to refine requirements and deliver high-quality solutions.
- Implement and iterate on Shopify themes using HTML, CSS and Liquid, ensuring clean, reusable and performant code.
- Work across multiple BAU/retainer clients each sprint, efficiently managing context switching and ticket-based workflows.
- Contribute to continuous improvement of development practices, including use of Git, code reviews, unit testing and Agile ceremonies.
- Strong commercial experience as a Shopify Developer, with at least 2+ years working heavily with Shopify.
- Solid front-end skills including HTML, CSS and responsive UI implementation.
- Proven experience with Shopify themes and Liquid templating.
- Practical JavaScript experience (from basic up to medium level) for Shopify storefronts.
- Experience working in an agency or similar fast-paced, multi-client environment with regular context switching.
- Comfortable working in an Agile setup (stand-ups, sprints, ticketing, acceptance criteria, retros, etc.).
- Strong communication skills, especially for collaborating with delivery managers, designers, QA and other developers.
- Based within a commutable distance of either the Leeds or Liverpool office and able to work on-site three times per week.
- Eagerness to stay up to date with the latest Shopify features and best practices, and to learn on the job.
- Experience building or maintaining custom Shopify apps (e.g. private or public apps, extensions).
- Familiarity with backend technologies for Shopify apps (e.g. Node.js, PHP, or similar).
- Experience with unit testing in a front-end context.
- Comfortable working with design tools such as Figma.
- Prior experience in a digital agency environment, handling multiple clients/projects concurrently.
