We are working with a high growth, technology led business that is building a world class automated execution platform. They are looking to hire a Java Software Engineer to join their Development Team and play a key role in designing, building, and supporting highly scalable, low latency systems that sit at the core of the organisation. This is an excellent opportunity for a Java Software Engineer who enjoys ownership, autonomy, and working closely with both technical and commercial stakeholders in a fast paced environment.

As a Java Software Engineer, you will be part of an agile, cross functional development team responsible for delivering resilient, scalable technology that supports the continued growth of the business. You will work across the full software development lifecycle, from design and development through to testing, deployment, and in life support. Teams own their code end to end, with a strong focus on automation, monitoring, and engineering best practice.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design, develop, and maintain Java based services that support automated execution and decision making
  • Integrate and consume data from APIs, websites, exchanges, and marketplaces, including emerging markets
  • Build and support low latency platforms used by strategy and quant teams
  • Take full ownership of the software you and your team deliver, including ongoing support and continuous improvement
  • Deploy code to production on a daily basis
  • Maintain and improve code quality through testing and adherence to best development practices
  • Collaborate closely with commercial and technical stakeholders to gather requirements and deliver solutions
Skills and Experience
  • Degree in a STEM subject or equivalent commercial software development experience
  • At least 2 years of object oriented programming experience for non graduate applicants
  • Strong experience with Java or a strong desire to specialise in Java development
  • Solid understanding of testing and its importance in scalable systems
  • Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects
  • A natural problem solver who enjoys complex technical challenges
