Senior Moodle Developer – EdTech (Flagship Greenfield Project)
Location: Remote (Must be based in UK)
We’re looking for an experienced Senior Moodle Developer to join a Product & Technology team and take a leading role in building a greenfield flagship learning platform for the legal education space.
You’ll shape the technical direction of a Moodle-based platform, developing new features, custom plugins, and integrations to deliver high-quality, scalable learning experiences. This is a hands-on senior role, combining full-stack development with mentoring, architectural input, and collaboration across product and business teams.
What you’ll be doing
- Lead development of a new Moodle-based platform from the ground up.
- Design and build integrations with webinar tools, APIs, and e-learning standards (SCORM, xAPI, LTI).
- Deliver high-quality code across PHP, MySQL, JavaScript (Node.js/React), HTML, CSS, Linux servers.
- Optimise performance, scalability, and platform reliability.
What we’re looking for
- 5+ years’ Moodle development experience (customisation, plugin creation, API integrations).
- Strong full-stack skills with PHP 7/8, MySQL, JavaScript, HTML5, CSS3.
- Track record of integrating Moodle with tools like Zoom or Teams.
- Experience with performance optimisation and platform upgrades.
- Understanding of GDPR, data privacy, and secure coding practices.
- Strong communicator and natural mentor, able to work across technical and non-technical teams.
Desirable: Moodle certification, familiarity with accessibility standards, experience in professional/regulated learning environments, exposure to Docker, Kubernetes, or CI/CD.
